About Our Summer Workshops
2018 brings our 16th Annual Teaching With Technology Summer Workshops, and we have built an incredible NEW program called a Summer Institute around a diverse set of topics. This year, we will be hosting 9 days of workshops across 2 cities offering over 25 different workshops.
Each summer, we bring together some of the best educators in the country to lead our workshops. All of our instructors have classroom experience and value high quality professional development. We use a hands-on, challenge-based approach to maximize the amount of time that participants have working with the tools and apps. Participants leave our workshops armed with new ideas and strategies that can be implemented in their classrooms as soon as the school year begins.
How We Got Started
EdTechTeacher’s origins trace back to 2000 when Tom Daccord received a small grant to develop resources for his pilot laptop history classroom. After a few years teaching in a 1:1 classroom, Tom organized and led his first public summer workshop: Teaching History with Technology at Noble and Greenough School. By 2005, Tom had migrated to the IT department at Nobles and began supporting teachers in effective technology integration. In 2006, Justin Reich, a teaching colleague at Nobles, joined Tom to begin their edtech partnership and co-author Best Ideas for Teaching with Technology. By the summer of 2008, EdTechTeacher had become a full-time endeavor offering a range of summer workshops as well as custom school workshops, presentations, international conferences, and full-year blended learning programs.
Over the past few years, we have diversified our offerings and expanded our team, but our mission remains the same: to support educators in their quest to enrich student learning experiences through emerging technologies.
